Hole 10
The South Course offers a test worthy of the most accomplished golfer - both The Fred Meyer Challenge, and the JELD-WEN TRADITION have been played on this course.
The JELD-WEN TRADITION , The first PGA Champions Tour. In a dramatic finish, Tom Watson beat a field of golf greats that include Jack Nicklaus, Fuzzy Zoeller, Bob Glider, Hale Irwin, Tom Kite, Jim Thorpe, and Craig Stadler.
From 1998 through 2002, The Reserve hosted Peter Jacobsen's Fred Meyer Challenge, the country's largest non-PGA Tour event. A veritable "who's who" - including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Fred Couples, Phil Mickelson, and Sergio Garcia have played here.
Designed by John Fought, a Portland native and former PGA Tour pro whose design credits include four Top 100 courses. The Sourth Course is a traditional American layout, with mature stands of Oregon trees, naturally rolling terrain, and 99 sand bunkers [not bottles of beer] waiting to swallow errant shots. Strategy and deception combine with pure aesthetic pleasure on this par 72 track, measuring from 5189 to 7196 yards.
The par 5 605 yard Hole 6 requires players to negotiate no fewer than 16 of the 99 strategically placed fairway and greenside bunkers on the course. The par 4 460 yard Hole 17 stands out not only for its beauty, but for its narrow approach and also for the water feature guarding its left side.
This is the second time, the Inter-city Tournament, hosted by the PCGC, will be played here, and for the fourth year, members of the Portland Chinese Golf Club will be playing their "Founders Cup Tournament" here.
